ESPN’s college football analyst and College Gameday host, Desmond Howard, is doubling down on his belief that Washington should go to the College Football Playoff over Georgia and Alabama if it comes down to one or the others making the cut.
Howard has had this viewpoint for multiple weeks. The Huskies are currently undefeated at 6-0 and are ranked No. 5 in the AP Top 25 Poll. They currently have a 40 percent chance to make the College Football Playoff, according to the AllState Playoff Predictor. Howard so the Huskies play in their win over Oregon, and it strengthened his feelings toward the Huskies.
“So watching this group, guys, I said two weeks ago that I would pick Washington over Georgia or Alabama if I had a chance to do my College Football Playoff preseason prediction again,” Howard said. “I would definitely, Greg, at this point, put Washington over Alabama or Georgia as one of my top four teams to finish in the College Football Playoff simply because, Greg, they have Michael Penix Jr., who’s better than either quarterback at Alabama or Georgia.”
Georgia continues to be ranked as the No. 1 team in college football, while the Crimson Tide are keeping their playoff hopes alive with their current five-game winning streak.
