Alabama football’s freshman defensive back, Caleb Downs was named a Semifinalist for the Shawn Alexander Award on Wednesday.
The award is presented annually to the best freshman in college football.
Downs has been one of the Crimson Tide’s most consistent performers this year. He earned the Shawn Alexander Player of the Week award earlier this season after the Tide defeated Mississippi State.
The former five-star had nine tackles in Alabama’s latest win against Tennessee.
Downs leads the Crimson with 63 tackles this season.
