The NFL world applauded the Carolina Panthers for getting Bryce Young at No. 1 overall in the NFL Draft, but now people are wondering if the franchise made the wrong move.
Carolina was pegged by many media pundits to win the NFC South; however, the team is 1-8.

Young, a former Alabama quarterback, led the Panthers to a 15-13 comeback victory over the Houston Texans. He’s flashed big-play abilities as a rookie and has eight touchdown passes, but he does seem to be frustrated. Young, a California native, rarely lost games in high school or college. He became the first Crimson Tide quarterback to win the Heisman Memorial Trophy in 2021.
Carolina has decent pieces around him, but it is not built to help him succeed. The Panthers don’t have explosive weapons and its offensive line needs help. People are ready to write Young off, but an ESPN analyst is defending him. Kirk Herbstreit is telling everyone to pump the brakes on criticizing Young. He explained his reasoning for it on the Pat McAfee Show.
“The Panthers don’t have the personnel to run the kind of offense that they wanna run with Bryce Young..
I’m a believer in him and we need to pump the brakes” ~ @KirkHerbstreit #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/3fvZxIYqaN

Young is a game-changing talent that can take Carolina to the next level. The Panthers need to get the right players around him.
