Alabama football remains in the hunt for a spot in the College Football Playoff late in the season despite an early season loss to Texas.
The Crimson Tide have secured a spot in the SEC Championship and are currently ranked No. 8 in the College Football Playoff Rankings. ESPN’s College Gameday host Desmond Howard was asked his opinion on Alabama’s playoff chances Friday on ESPN’s Get Up. The Heisman Trophy winner explained why he ‘100 percent’ believes the Tide’s playoff hopes are alive and well.
“The big mistake people made was earlier in the year when Alabama was trying to figure out their quarterback situation, and the Texas Longhorns caught them at the right time in Tuscaloosa and beat them, when that happened, people just dismissed Alabama,” Howard said. “It’s going to be a down year. They’re not going to make the College Football Playoff. But they steadily got better. They steadily got improvement at the quarterback position. Jalen Milroe, right now, he’s playing as well as any quarterback in college football.”
The Crimson Tide will look to close out the regular season strong by picking up wins over Chattanooga and Auburn over the next two weeks.
