Alabama football has a wide receiver to wear No. 17 that dominated Auburn in the Iron Bowl.

Jaylen Waddle, a native Texan, took over Jordan-Hare Stadium with an impactful performance — regardless of the Crimson Tide suffering a 45-48 loss to the Tigers. Nick Saban witnessed another player wearing No. 17 rip the hearts of Tiger fans in a memorable rivalry game. Isaiah Bond called his shot to bring Auburn fans to tears.

The sophomore receiver had been surging all season, but he put the Tigers “in its grave” on a play that will get a Daniel Moore painting. He caught five passes for 75 yards, including a game-winning touchdown catch on fourth down and goal with 31 yards to go to push Alabama to a 27-24 victory.

He stunned the crowd at Jordan-Hare as they thought Auburn had secured its fifth victory over Coach Saban in Auburn. Bond’s catch was reminiscent of Ja’Corey Brooks’ 28-yard, game-tying touchdown in the 2021 Iron Bowl.

Bond coined his catch, “gravedigger,” in his interview to reporters after the game.

“We’re going to put them in the grave after that play.” Bond said. “It’s normally an end of the game, put them to sleep type of play.”

Alabama is normally on the bad end of crazy plays that happen at Auburn, but this time it finished on the victorious side.
