Kalen DeBoer has done a good job thus far of building his staff as the new head coach of Alabama football.
He’s kept important names from last year’s staff, but he’s also added guys from Washington.

DeBoer’s latest move is expected to be Kane Wommack as defensive coordinator.
Wommack, 36, has Southeastern Conference ties and is an exceptional recruiter in the South Alabama region. He spent three seasons as head coach of the Jaguars (2021-23) and is one of the best young defensive minds in college football. Wommack’s defensive scheme, a 4-2-5, helped Indiana and South Alabama be one of the top units in the nation. Some national media pundits like what Wommack could give the Crimson Tide, but a former Alabama player is endorsing the move of the program getting Wommack. Alphonse Taylor, a native of Mobile, Ala., was a two-time national champion (2012, 2015) for the Crimson Tide.
He was a successful offensive lineman that helped Alabama to four SEC Championships (2012, 2014-16). Taylor is now a coach at Alma Bryant High School, but the former Joe Moore Award winner spent time with Wommack at South Alabama.
He said Wommack would be a ‘huge pick up’ for Alabama and knows how to connect with guys in recruiting.
Would be a huge pick up. Great guy and knows how to connect with kids in Mobile and surrounding areas. A great recruiter regardless of area. Use to sit in on his recruiting breakfast while I was at South and I use to think to myself I wouldn’t mind playing for him! https://t.co/zhp86JskJY

It will be exciting to see what Wommack does when he arrives.
