Georgia elite sophomore LB Tyler Atkinson gives thoughts on new Alabama staff

Tyler Atkinson is on pace to be one of the nation’s top linebacker prospects in the country in the 2026 recruiting class.

Atkinson, who attends Grayson High School in Georgia, has the potential to be a consensus five-star recruit in the future. His offer list now sits at 43 with offers from Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, Texas and Ohio State.

The Georgia product gave his quick and initial thoughts on the new staff at Alabama after winning the Under Armour Next Atlanta linebacker MVP Award on Sunday.

“They have a legacy over there,” Atkinson said. “The head coach (Kalen DeBoer) up there, he got some big shoes to fill, but I think they’ll get it done. I’m excited to go up there and meet the new staff.”

The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder physically looks the part of a future high-level college football linebacker. He moves well in space when playing off-the-ball at linebacker, but he can make plays when playing off the edge. He has impressive speed and can close on the football fast.

“I am a sideline to sideline player,” said Atkinson. “I can rush the quarterback, stop the run. I can do a little of everything, so that makes me special.”
