Eli Gold will not return to the booth to call Alabama football games over the radio waves after he revealed the university chose not to bring him back.
Gold had called games for the Crimson Tide for 35 years. He spoke with AL.com recently about the change.
“Well, the university has chosen not to bring me back,” Gold told Michael Casagrande. “This is not, with a capital N-O-T, not at all health-related. I am very healthy. Everything is wonderful. I am healthy as a horse.”
The veteran radio announcer went on to say the university has chosen to go in a different direction.
