California 4-Star OL Samuelu Utu impressed with Alabama winning mentality

Alabama football decided to extended an offer to 2026 offensive lineman,  Samuelu Utu last month.

Utu attends Orange Lutheran High School in Orange, California, and he is considered a four-star recruit on multiple recruiting sites. His offer list now includes offers from Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Texas and others.

Touchdown Alabama caught up with Utu to discuss his offer from Alabama.

“Their winning mentality and their development with them putting players in the NFL,” Utu said when asked what stands out to him about Alabama.”It is a school I have always had a lot of interest in. Just being able to talk to coach Kap (Chris Kapilovic) himself and discuss what he sees in my technique and skill means a lot.”

Alabama’s offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic is someone Utu does not have a previous relationship with, but the California product is familiar with his reputation.

“I have heard a lot of good stuff about him,” said Utu. “I know he is a really good dude and a really good coach. Development is something I look for, and I know he can offer that to me.”

At 6-foot-5 and 310 pounds, Utu currently lines up at left tackle. He flashes solid footwork in pass protection at the moment with his ability to get out of his stance and down block and open up holes for ball carriers being among his biggest strengths at the moment.
