Alabama QB Jalen Milroe responds to Auburn LB statement

Butch Dill - USA Today Sports

Can Alabama football have its performance on the field outshine Auburn’s comments?

All eyes will be on Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium for Saturday’s Iron Bowl in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Auburn defender says Jalen Milroe ‘not faster’ than him ahead of Iron Bowl

The student-athletes for the Tigers have been talking this week. Bulletin board material has been thrown at Ryan Williams and Jalen Milroe of the Crimson Tide. DeMarcus Riddick, a freshman linebacker for Auburn, said Milroe is fast, but ‘not faster than him’ in Monday’s media availability for the Tigers. He said Milroe ‘will not get out of the box’ against him this weekend.

Milroe spoke to reporters in Tuesday’s availability for Alabama.

The redshirt junior quarterback had the perfect responds to Riddick’s comment.

“I don’t even know who that is, but let him talk,” Milroe said.

“It is a part of it, but it is all about executing what you do so we can be our best us this weekend. Good on him.”

Milroe crushed the hearts of Auburn fans last year with a 31-yard touchdown pass with seconds left in the matchup to wide receiver Isaiah Bond at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The play on fourth down, known as “Gravedigger,” delivered the Tide to a 27-24 victory and pushed it into the Southeastern Conference Championship Game. After having a rough game against Oklahoma, Milroe has an opportunity to bounce back and shut the Tigers up in the Iron Bowl.
