Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer spoke with Al.com on Monday at the annual Senior Bowl Charity Classic at Lakewood Golf Club in Fairhope, Alabama. One thing caught my attention in particular.
When speaking with Al.com, DeBoer highlighted one critical area that the team must improve upon during the 2025 season.
“And so this spring was really good in a lot of ways. There’s areas we’ve got to continue to improve in a big way on, but I really like the direction,” DeBoer said, “A lot of it is just the chemistry, that makeup of who we are. And that allows us to (in) those critical times when we came up short a year ago, find ways to win those football games, because that’s really what’s going to come down to in the SEC.”
Alabama finished with a 9-4 record during the 2024 season. In DeBoer’s first year, Alabama struggled to hit its stride. Every time it seemed like things were trending in the right direction, there would be a bump in the road.
If the team is able to gel and build chemistry this offseason, it could go a long way for the Crimson Tide during the 2025 season. Some things will certainly need to change in 2025 to have a different outcome than 2024. Building team chemistry is one of the key components that will need to see further improvement as DeBoer pointed out earlier today.
