BREAKING: California 4-Star OL commits to Alabama

Sam Utu has announced a verbal commitment to Alabama football.

Utu attends Orange Lutheran High School in California. He garners a four-star rating from multiple recruiting sites as he is projected to be an interior offensive lineman at the next level. He is the Tide’s sixth 2026 commit.

The Crimson Tide hosted him for an official visit over the weekend after taking a huge step with him during the spring.

“The culture has its winning edge, but they illustrate the brotherhood and that’s what matters most,” Utu said after his spring visit. “Can’t win a game single-handedly but together as a unit, and they demonstrate that well. Nothing more to see, everything was covered and they don’t bullshit you, they care and pour what it is they want and the expectations.”

At 6-foot-5 and more than 300 pounds, Utu is a big offensive lineman, who blocks with a strong base. He is at his best when he is asked to pave the way for ball carries which is a skill that will pay great dividends for him as an interior offensive lineman at the next level.
