Grubb says ‘hungry’ Alabama WR made ‘strong’ touchdown catch in Tuesday’s practice

Most of the 2024 production from Alabama’s receiver room came from Germie Bernard and Ryan Williams, but there could be a third receiver on the Crimson Tide capable of matching their production.

Isaiah Horton transferred from Miami to Alabama this offseason, and he continues to look like another solid target for the Tide.

When asked about his thoughts about Horton, Alabama’s offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb called Horton ‘hungry’ and said he made a fantastic play in Alabama’s fifth practice of fall camp.

“He’s a guy, like today, he had a touchdown in the red zone,” Grubb said. “Ran a really physical route in the middle third of the end zone. He had to win on tight coverage. Bodied the guy up and he made a really, really strong catch. I think he’s very critical of himself and is aware of the things he needs to get better at. I think that’s all you can ask out of players.”

Horton caught 56 passes for 616 yards and five touchdowns in 2024 for Miami.

At 6-foot-4 and 208 pounds, Horton can be a physical presence for the Crimson Tide this season.
