Young Alabama defensive linemen on pace to possibly have ‘roles’ this season

A group of young Alabama football defensive linemen has an opportunity to carve out roles for themselves in 2025.

“Some of those young defensive linemen are really taking steps in the right direction,” Wommack said. “Both Freddie Roach and Jamie Mosley, those guys have done a really good job. Isaia Faga is doing a really good job. You are seeing some things from London Simmons, is improving. Steve (Mboumoua) is improving. It is nice to see some guys that you thought maybe a little ways away, that might have roles for us at some point for us here during the season. That’s encouraging.”

Faga is heading into his second season with the Crimson Tide. He played in two games last season as a true freshman.

Mboumoua and Simmons will be playing their first seasons with the Tide this fall. Mboumoua played at Southwest Mississippi Community College before joining the Crimson Tide. Simmons was a three-star recruit in the 2025 recruiting class, who flashed power and explosiveness as a prospect.

The emergence of these three could provide great extra depth for Tide in 2025.
