How comfortable is Alabama football with other guards if Jaeden Roberts is out vs. Florida State?

Alabama football’s offensive lineman, Jaeden Roberts is working to get back to the football field after missing time in fall camp.

Kalen DeBoer confirmed the offensive lineman was going through concussion protocol during his press conference on Saturday. Geno VanDeMark has been filling in with Roberts out, while Kam Dewberry has lined up at left guard, a position both he and VanDeMark were previously competing for.

Alabama’s offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb was asked how comfortable he would be starting VanDeMark and Dewberry at the guard spots if Roberts could not play or be at 100 percent against Florida State.

“Very comfortable,” Grubb said. “Those are two veteran players, very versatile too. They can both play left or right. So, they are interchangeable. But Kam brings a lot of physical presence to him. Geno is a savvy player.”

The competition at left guard has helped develop some trusted depth for the Tide during fall camp.
