What Alabama needs to do to close out Wisconsin

Alabama football leads Wisconsin at halftime 21-0 on Saban-Field at Bryant Denny Stadium.

Here’s are things the Tide must emphasize in the second half to finish off Wisconsin in dominant fashion:

1. Continue to generate pressure on the quarterback

Alabama’s defensive line was able to successfully get in Wisconsin’s backfield and generate pressure, sacking Badgers quarterback Danny O’Neil three times in the first half. The Tide must continue to make life hard on the Wisconsin and keep them behind the chains so that they go further away from their game plan as they play from behind.

2. Establish a rhythm in the run game

Alabama’s offense has only rushed for 22 yards on 13 attempts in the first half against Wisconsin. Look for the Tide to increase these totals as they lead by multiple possessions in the 2nd half.

3. Emphasis on playing cleaner football:

Penalties on both sides of the ball continue to be an ongoing theme for the Tide. Even though it hasn’t hurt them today, Alabama and Wisconsin are close in penalties, with the Badgers having four while the Tide has three. Alabama must focus on eliminating this issue as a team as it moves into the second half.

4. Ty Simpson remaining hot:

Ty Simpson continues to remain hot under center for Alabama football, completing 13 of 14 passes for 192 yards in the first half against Wisconsin. If he can remain on this heater, look out for more explosive plays in the second half.
