ESPN analyst tells why Ty Simpson is seeing his stock rise

ESPN College Football analyst and commentator Tom Luginbill feels it may be hard to find a quarterback who has been more accurate than Ty Simpson over the last two weeks.

Simpson is on fire at the moment, and he has the Crimson Tide’s offense rolling with his efficient play. The redshirt junior has completed 41 of his 46 pass attempts in Alabama’s last two wins. Those completions have accounted for 608 passing yards and seven touchdowns.

Luginbill feels Simpson is maturing into a top quarterback.

“He’s really starting to come into his own,” Luginbill said on Next Round Live. “He’s poised, he’s composed. I’ve just been so impressed with the clock in his head, knowing where to go with the football, getting the ball out of his hand, using his legs when he needs to, all of the things that you want to see your quarterback do.”

Simpson has taken what is considered not a normal route to becoming a starting quarterback for a major college football program. He has waited for his opportunity to earn the job for three years.

Luginbill feels Simpson’s patience and commitment are paying off for him on the field.

“It just goes to show you how much growth, maturity and age do count for something,” said Luginbill. “That’s a lot of practice. That’s a lot of knowledge of the game. That’s a lot of understanding and maturing. And that’s starting to come to fruition… The weapons are continuing to mature and to grow. And then maybe most importantly, they didn’t turn the ball over.”

Alabama is hopeful the Tennessee product can keep this level of play up as it enters SEC play.
