Alabama football has built some positive momentum over the last two weeks with back-to-back wins.
While neither of the wins was against top opponents, Fox Sports’ college football analyst Joel Klatt feels Alabama is not a team many should be happy about playing right now.
“Listen, I don’t know what happened against Florida State,” Klatt said during an interview on Next Round Live. “I really don’t. Maybe we’ll look back on that game and we’ll just think to ourselves, well, actually, Florida State was ridiculously good and Alabama didn’t play their best. Maybe that’s the case because that’s the way it looks in hindsight. But I don’t want to play Alabama right now.”
The play of Ty Simpson has turned heads in recent weeks in these wins. His play is a huge reason why Klatt feels he can be ‘bullish’ about Alabama.
“He has played some of the best football in the country the last two weeks, in particular last week against Wisconsin,” Klatt said. “Even the drop from Ryan Williams in the end zone was an absolute dime. It was a beautiful throw… If Ty Simpson is protected, he will carve you up. The whole issue with Florida State was their offensive line played absolutely bootleg. They were terrible. And now that they’re protecting Simpson, when he’s protected without pressure, he’s almost 80 percent. I think he’s 76 percent throwing the football, and it looks really good.”
Alabama football is on a BYE week. The Crimson Tide will return to action next Saturday when they travel to take on Georgia.
