Missouri football’s head coach Eli Drinkwitz knows his Tigers defense will have to pick their poison when defending Ty Simpson and the Alabama football offense on Saturday.

Simpson has continued to get better and show complete control of the Alabama offense as one of the better quarterbacks in the sport at the moment. He is currently considered to be one of the Heisman frontrunners, in large part due to his play during the Crimson Tide’s last four wins.

Drinkwitz revealed he feels it is going to be a difficult challenge to game plan against Simpson while discussing the quarterback during his latest press conference.

“I think, obviously the Georgia game, and Vandy was extremely well done on their third down plan,” Drinkwitz told reporters Tuesday. “The quarterback makes very good decisions, not easily deceived with disguise, unaffected by pressure, ability to escape. I think those three things make it really difficult to try to game plan a quarterback on third down. You kinda have to pick your poison. Like, if we play zone, he’s gonna pick us apart. If we blitz, he’s gonna stand in there and identify the one-on-one matchup and take it. think that’s what they’ve been really good at. I’m pretty confident he had three scrambles with his feet against Georgia, the first two, he stared down the barrel of some blitzes and delivered. He’s really good.”

Simpson and Alabama football’s offense will look to continue to roll in a hostile environment on the road against Missouri on Saturday. Kickoff for this matchup is set for 11 a.m. CST. The game will be broadcast on ABC.
