Alabama football’s starting quarterback Ty Simpson is currently among the leading candidates to be the next Heisman Trophy winner.

Simpson has played at an elite level this season. He has thrown for 2,184 yards and 20 touchdowns while throwing only one interception en route to leading the Crimson Tide to seven straight wins. Multiple betting sites have the Alabama signal caller listed as the favorite to win the award.

Jim Rome hosted Simpson on the “Jim Rome show,” and he asked the quarterback about the potential of him winning the award.

“Extremely blessed, right, Like, it would be a great opportunity. It’s super exciting,” Simpson said. “I wouldn’t be here if it wouldn’t for my teammates and everything they do. I think back to the reason why I came to Alabama and the championship hallway that we have, there’s only four Heisman Trophies, but there’s six National Championships in there. And so that’s what I really care about, just trying to win, trying to be the best guy I can be and make sure that I can do everything for my teammates that gets us win and gets to what we dream about for a long time and what our ultimate goal is.”

Alabama football and Simpson are off this week. They are set to return to action next week against the LSU Tigers with Simpson having an opportunity to improve his chances of winning the award.
