Alabama football’s starting quarterback, Ty Simpson is in the running to be the next Heisman Trophy winner with four regular-season games and a possible SEC Championship game left for him to show why he deserves the award.
Mark Ingram, who was the first Alabama player to win the award, is all in on Simpson becoming the Crimson Tide’s fifth Heisman Trophy winner.
“Ty Simpson is top two, and he ain’t two,” Ingram said on “The Triple Option” podcast when asked who was his Heisman favorite.
The Alabama signal caller has thrown for 2,184 yards and 20 touchdowns, while throwing only one interception this season.
Ingram also showed some love to the other signal callers up for the award in Marcel Reed, Fernando Mendoza, Julian Sayin and Haynes King, calling all of them ballers.
Simpson will have his next opportunity to put up a Heisman-worthy performance against LSU on Saturday night in Bryant-Denny Stadium.
