The missed points came back to haunt the Crimson Tide as the Sooners defeated them 23-21 in a game where Alabama dominated the box score. Kalen DeBoer was asked about what went wrong on the kick after the game.
“It’s a little bit of the same as the last time that we missed one,” DeBoer said. “Just get a little better snap, and we can make the kick too. It’s a little bit of everything on the execution from snap to the kick. And so we got to find a way to kick it through when it’s not perfect. We got to find a way to execute better just on the whole thing, on the whole operation.”
The kick appeared to have been tipped by Oklahoma defensive lineman, Taylor Wein. The snap also appeared to have been high, and it forced the Tide’s holder, Blake Doud to adjust. The split second it took him to do so opened the door for Wein to completely jump across Alabama’s front and tip the kick.
Alabama dropped to 8-2 with the loss and 6-1 in the SEC.
