Alabama football trails the Oklahoma Sooners at the half at home in a top-25 matchup.
Here is a look at what Alabama needs to do in the second half to come back:
Protect the football
The Crimson Tide gave the football away multiple times, but put the ball in harm’s way more times than that. Turnovers will always hurt you, but against a top team like Oklahoma, they could hurt you a little more.
Keep pounding with Daniel Hill
Daniel Hill’s first-half stats are not head-turning, but they give a glimpse of hope for the Tide’s rushing attack. One can make an argument he has been the Tide’s most productive backs over the last few weeks.
Keep John Mateer contained
The Oklahoma quarterback has the ability to run the football like he is a running back at times when he has the football in his possession. He can break tackles if defenders do not make sound tackles on him. Alabama’s defense has done a solid job against him and the Oklahoma offense so far. His legs has ultimately been the best sign of life for the Sooner defense.
Protect Ty Simpson
Ty Simpson has been pressured by the Oklahoma defense with some impressive stunts upfront. These will not stop.
