Former Alabama defensive back, Roman Harper said he understands why Alabama dropped to No. 10 in the College Football Playoff rankings after losing to Oklahoma.
The Tide dropped six slots after the Sooners defeated the Tide 23-21 on Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium. This drop created a lot of buzz on social media after the College Football Playoff committee ranked Notre Dame a spot ahead of Alabama.
Harper detailed why he thinks Alabama is behind Notre Dame on “Next Round Live.”
“I understand why,” Harper said. “Notre Dame won a game. Alabama lost the game. So, it’s just not only that, but they’re Notre Dame. So, they’re always going to get the benefit of the doubt, and Notre Dame’s playing really well. They said that was going to be a really good game versus Pittsburgh, and it was not. And so ultimately, you control your own destiny when you win games. And right now, Alabama lost the game and they have no reason to complain.”
Alabama and Notre Dame are both 8-2. Both squads still have an opportunity to make the playoff.
