Ryan Williams missed an opportunity to get in the scoring column Saturday against Eastern Illinois when he dropped a pass in the endzone when he separated from the Panthers’ defense. The sophomore appeared to attempt to move before he secured the catch which resulted in the drop.

Williams finished the game with one reception for 25 yards after playing limited snaps in the Crimson Tide’s dominant 56-0 win over the Panthers. The star wideout was asked Tuesday what the Crimson Tide’s coaching staff’s message was to him after the drop.

“Really just focus on the ball,” Williams said. “I mean it ain’t nothing extra, just focus on the ball, don’t try to move without the ball, keep it simple.”

Williams’ inconsistencies have been the tale of an up-and-down season for him. He has pulled in 40 receptions this season to go along with 598 yards and four touchdowns. His best game of the year came against Wisconsin when he had 165 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

The Alabama native has a great opportunity to put together a great game against in-state rival Auburn this weekend as he looks to gain a rhythm of consistency.
