According to the initial SEC Student-Athlete Availability Report, LT Overton will not play in the SEC Championship game against Georgia.
Overton is a starter on Alabama’s defense and plays the Bandit position in Kane Wommack’s 4-2-5 “Swarm” defense, and he’s made an impact this year, especially in the Crimson Tide’s first game against Georgia earlier in the season.
So far in 2025, Overton has 33 total tackles and four sacks. Perhaps his best performance was in the Georgia game as he racked up six total tackles and made the clutch tackle on Georgia’s final drive, bringing down Cash Jones to get a stop on fourth down.
Jordan Renaud and Keon Keeley will see an uptick in playing time on Saturday as Overton is set to miss the rematch against Georgia. The two have gotten playing time in significant moments this season as Wommack and the Alabama defensive staff have rotated a lot of players throughout the year, so there is a chance that Renaud and Keeley will step up and replicate Overton’s production.
As of this moment, there is no word on why Overton is out, but it will likely be addressed by Kalen DeBoer tomorrow afternoon.
