CFB media rips into Alabama for making playoffs over Notre Dame

Another year, another Sunday evening full of debate and controversy from the College Football Playoff rankings.

Heading into the selection show the final two spots in the postseason were being jockeyed for between Alabama, Notre Dame and Miami. The Fighting Irish had been ranked ahead of the Hurricanes for a majority of the playoff rankings despite Miami’s head to head win week one of the season.

The Crimson Tide who had the best strength of schedule, strength of record and win of the season (on the road against Georgia) received a late blemish on its resume with a 21-point loss to Georgia in the SEC Championship.

Notre Dame was ultimately the odd man out with the committee opting to honor the head to head result against Miami, and refusing to punish Alabama for losing in its conference title game considering the Fighting Irish refuse to belong to one in football.

This result sparked significant reactions from college football media members who were not pleased with Notre Dame being excluded from the postseason.
