Why Alabama elite wide receiver signee is confident in expected hiring of Derrick Nix

Alabama football’s 2026 wide receiver signee Cederian Morgan is confident in Derrick Nix, who is expected to be the Crimson Tide’s next wide receiver coach.

Morgan signed with the Crimson Tide in December after being verbally committed to Alabama since July. Alabama’s current wide receiver coach and Oregon State’s head coach JaMarcus Shephard played a significant role in Morgan committing to the Tide, and Morgan was looking forward to playing under him. However, he still signed with the Tide, knowing Shephard was moving on.

The Alexander City, Alabama, native previously said he was confident Alabama would make a good hire to fill its wide receiver coaching role. Derrick Nix, who was the Auburn Tigers’ offensive coordinator for two years, is expected to fill the role, per multiple reports.

Morgan shared his reaction to the expected hire with Touchdown Alabama’s Larry Rudolph.

“We definitely have a strong relationship, and I am confident that he is going to help develop us as men and wide receivers,” Morgan said.

The senior is set to enroll at the University of Alabama in January as an early enrollee.
