Alabama DL LT Overton cleared to play in Rose Bowl

Alabama DL LT Overton (#22) during the Crimson Tide's fall camp practice indoors.

Alabama defensive starter, LT Overton has been medically cleared for Rose Bowl return, per multiple reports.

After missing Alabama’s last two games due to an undisclosed injury or illness, Overton is officially cleared and will play in the Rose Bowl against Indiana on Jan. 1. It was first reported by CBS Sports reporter Matt Zenitz.

Overton is the starter at the Bandit position in Kane Wommack’s 4-2-5 “Swarm” defense, and he likely will be back in his role on Alabama’s punt team as well.

He posted 35 tackles, six tackles for loss, four sacks and four additional QB hurries in Bama’s first 12 games.

Now that he’s cleared, Overton will have the opportunity to play in a postseason playoff game for the first time in his collegiate career on Jan. 1.
