Chieca has two years of eligibility remaining. He will be coming off visits to Kentucky and LSU when he gets to Tuscaloosa.
The 6-foot-5, 250-pound tight end pulled in 43 receptions for 334 yards and four touchdowns during his time with New Haven. He played in 20 games for the Chargers.
Chieca checks the physical tight end box. He is a great blocker, and he appears to enjoy doing the dirty work. The transfer is also a physical runner after the catch.
The Tide has pulled one tight end from the transfer portal, but it remains in the market to add another.
