Alabama football quarterback and 2026 NFL Draft prospect Ty Simpson revealed he has met with the Arizona Cardinals, Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the NFL Scouting Combine.
The first organization to meet with Simpson was the Cardinals. Arizona currently holds the No. 3 overall pick in the first round and the No. 34 overall pick in the second round as its two highest draft picks.
“Yeah, I met with the Cardinals,” Simpson said. “It was my first interview, and just super great organization. Mr. Monti (Ossenfort) is a great guy, coach (Mike) LaFleur is a super ball guy, coach (Nathaniel) Hackett. All those guys, they love football. They’re a quarterback-driven organization, because they’re very familiar with the quarterback position. And I would love to be a Cardinal. I think that they’re a great organization.”
The Steelers’ meeting with Simpson was highlighted by the Alabama quarterback’s conversation with Mike McCarthy.
“It was great,” Simpson told reporters. “Coach McCarthy is the guy, man… We were just talking ball, going back and forth talking about pass concepts, talking about protections, talking about situations.”
Simpson has seen his name linked to the Jets in multiple mock drafts. The organization currently has two first-round picks, and some feel they will consider taking Simpson as the No. 16th overall pick.
“Really blessed to be able to have a meeting with them,” Simpson said. “And if I have an opportunity to play in New York, that, you know, like I said, they’re going to get the best Tyson Simpson they can get.”
Tampa Bay meeting with Simpson was really intriguing, considering the Buccaneers have Baker Mayfield leading the way for them under center.
“I got to know those guys pretty good and just had some fun,” said Simpson. “That’s the biggest thing about these meetings, you know what I mean? Just be yourself, have some fun, talk some ball, and let everything else fall in God’s plan.
Simpson will have a chance to impress these teams and other squads at the NFL Scouting Combine this week.
