Alabama football’s freshman running back, EJ Crowell looks to be settling in well at the University of Alabama after enrolling in January.
Crowell is a former five-star recruit and a product of Jackson High School in Alabama. He is getting his first taste of an Alabama football practice this spring, and he is impressing.
Crowell’s high school head coach Cody Flournoy was in Tuscaloosa recently, and he got to check out his former running back in action.
“He looks really good,” Flournoy told Touchdown Alabama. “He’s gained some weight and of course, they got him working in their program and everything. Talked with coach (Kalen) DeBoer earlier during the recruiting cycle, and he said that he just had to kind of come in and figure out how to play college ball. That’s the first time I got to see him. He looked good, looked like he belongs. I always tell people coming in and even now, whatever in your mind of what a tailback supposed to look like, that’s what he looks like.”
Alabama’s offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb said Crowell was dealing with a soft-tissue injury, but it was considered a minor issue while talking to media members earlier this month. Flournoy said he is confident the Crowell is in good hands.
“They held him back before spring break and now they’re back,” Flournoy said. “They’re going to take care of him up there.”
Crowell continues to look like a player who can make an immediate impact in Tuscaloosa.
