ON3’s college football insider, Brett McMurphy  predicted Alabama football will miss the playoff and take on Clemson in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl game in his latest post-spring bowl projection.

The Crimson Tide is coming off a 11-4 season, where it made the College Football Playoff and won a road playoff game against Oklahoma in the first round. Kalen DeBoer is set to lead Alabama in his third season as the Tide’s head coach this fall.

The 2026 college football season will mark the first season the SEC plays nine conference games. Alabama will take on Kentucky, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas A&M, LSU, Vanderbilt and Auburn during the upcoming college football season in conference play. East Carolina, Florida State and Chattanooga are Alabama’s non-SEC opponents.

Alabama will kick off the 2026 season against East Carolina on Sept. 5 at home.
