We flip the focus back to defense in ranking the strongest positional groups for Alabama football ahead of this season.

Ranking Alabama football’s position groups ahead of 2026 season: Cornerbacks

The defensive backfield opened the series with safeties and cornerbacks at Nos. 1 and 2 respectively, but offense took center stage with wide receivers coming in at No. 3.

Kane Wommack, the Crimson Tide’s defensive coordinator, is excited for the names Alabama acquired out of the NCAA transfer portal up front. Our attention is now on the fourth-strongest position group – the defensive line.

-Weaknesses: Lack of an explosive game wrecker (sacks), consistency in stopping the run
