Alabama RB Daniel Hill reveals details behind offseason weight loss

Alabama running back Daniel Hill will enter the 2026 season as the Tide’s top option on the depth chart. 

Hill could quickly begin to thrive with Jam Miller no longer in the Tide’s backfield, and the junior appears to have put in some major work this offseason. The running back has lost a significant amount of weight since January, and Hill is now set to begin the year in the best shape of his life. 

Hill took a moment to speak about his weight loss following day two of fall camp, as the running back credits Alabama’s Director of Sports Performance David Ballou for the changes he made over the offseason. 

“Just my whole body in general.” Hill said. “I guess shout out to my dietitian, coach Ballou. There was a big emphasis for me to get my body weight down and get faster. That was something that going into the summer I wanted to do, and I did that.”

Hill was listed at 244 pounds prior to Week 1 of the 2025 campaign against Florida State. The running back currently weighs 234 pounds, and Hill should see a significant difference in both his speed and athleticism moving forward.
