What Ryan Grubb wants to take from second scrimmage to Alabama vs. East Carolina

Alabama OC Ryan Grubb has 3 questions to answer for 2026.

Alabama football’s offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb is looking for efficiency out of his unit in the Tide’s second scrimmage of fall camp.

Alabama is set to scrimmage again this week after scrimmaging for the first time in fall camp ahead of the 2026 season last Thursday. Grubb wants the Tide to play a brand of football on offense it can carry into their season opener against East Carolina in the upcoming scrimmage.

“Just clean operation,” Grubb said when asked what he wants to see out of the Alabama offense in the upcoming scrimmage. “You want to feel like you get out there in the East Carolina game that you just give your guys a chance to play. And that’s where you want to be able to conceptually and schematically all the things, what do they run well? What are they doing well? What can they handle? And focus more on those things, you know, not what we can’t do but what we can. There’s certainly a lot of things we can do. I think that part will be critical for us.”

Alabama is looking to name a starting quarterback soon.

Grubb provided a timeline for that announcement on Monday.

“We’re close. I mean, we’re getting close to game week,” Grubb said. “So I would say, you know, by next week, we’ll have to make that call.”
