The class of 2022 has suddenly made major headlines across the college football world following a recent federal ruling in Colorado.
The class as a whole could receive an additional year of eligibility if the ruling is upheld. The preliminary junction was initially proposed in late July, and it has since been put on pause after a handful of mixed opinions led to the NCAA’s request for a stay.
Alabama offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb was recently asked about the Tide’s interest in adding a former player should the ruling be overturned, as Grubb claims a potential move could be beneficial.
“Listen, if I had that all figured out, I’d be in Vegas doing something different right now.” Grubb said. “I think anytime in any situation that any college football program’s in, if you can add a player to the roster, you would love to be able to do it if it’s within the confines of the rules. But right now, I don’t think anybody really knows. I think they are working through a lot of stuff. But if you can improve your roster, I don’t think there’s a team in the country that wouldn’t like to do that.”
Alabama has a handful of potential candidates from the class of 2022 who could rejoin the team in the near future. The ruling currently remains on pause for the time being, but Grubb’s comments are certainly worth monitoring nonetheless.
