Kentucky linebacker Elijah Barnes is confident in the Wildcats ahead of their matchup against Alabama in Lexington on Saturday.

Barnes was asked about the upcoming matchup after the Wildcats beat Youngstown State.

“I think 100 percent we have the players to go out there and do what we need to do to get the W next week,” Barnes said. “That’s a good team. They got good players, great coaches, but I’m betting on my team.”

Kentucky defeated Youngstown State 45-13 to open the 2026 season, and Alabama picked up a 48-10 win against East Carolina last Saturday.

The last time Kentucky beat Alabama in football was in 1997, meaning no player on Alabama’s roster was born when the Wildcats last picked up a win over the Tide on the gridiron.

Alabama defeated Kentucky 49-21 in their last meeting in 2023.
