Transfer Alabama defensive tackle preparing to face former coach

Alabama Defensive Lineman Terrance Green (99) during practice at Thomas-Drew Practice Fields in Tuscaloosa, AL on Sunday, Mar 8, 2026.

Alabama football will face Kentucky on Saturday, and the Crimson Tide will roll into battle with a starting defensive tackle who is familiar with the offense of Kentucky head coach Will Stein.

Oregon transfer Terrance Green entered the transfer portal this offseason and decided to come to Alabama. During his time at Oregon, Green practiced against offenses coached by Stein, who was the Oregon offensive coordinator for three seasons.

Now, Green is in a position to face one of his former coaches when Alabama travels to Kentucky to kick off conference play.

On Tuesday, Green told reporters what he and Alabama should expect from Stein and Kentucky this weekend.

“They love to run the ball,” Green said. “Like I said, it’s gonna be a big week to stop the run this week, and we just gotta play with good pad level, play with our hands, get off blocks and make plays in the backfield.”

Green was asked how much it helps him having played against an offense coached by Stein.

“I feel like it helped me a lot,” Green said. “I know what he wants to do, and I know he’s probably gonna change it up, but like I said, I was with Coach Stein for like two, three years there. So, just going against that every day, going against great alignment. That would help a lot, but you know, also going against our guys here. And then, Coach Roach is staying on me about my pad level and getting off blocks, so that’s gonna be big this week.”

Green added that Stein has a couple of tricks up his sleeve. The Oregon transfer defensive tackle shared that Stein is great at designing trick plays and causing confusion.

Alabama is stressing the importantance of communication heavily this week.
