The Alabama Crimson Tide will face the South Carolina Gamecocks at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday evening.
Alabama will need to play at a much higher level in the first half this weekend, and a slow start could prove to be trouble against star quarterback LaNorris Sellers and the Gamecocks’ talented offense. The Tide will face Sellers for the third season in a row this year, as the junior has proven to give Alabama’s defense a hard time on numerous occasions in the past.
Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer took a moment to share his thoughts on facing Sellers for the third time in three years, as DeBoer claims the Tide’s pass rush will play a crucial role in containing the quarterback both on the ground and through the air.
“Sometimes we’re just getting home with four, and we’re just pushing the offensive line and anyone else involved in the protection into the quarterback’s face.” DeBoer said. “But also not giving lanes where the quarterback can take off and run, and so that’s going to be really critical this week against a quarterback that can get vertical on you, can beat you around the edge. He’s got a combination of size and speed, so they got to be on. We got to be on our A-game with it when it comes to that pass-rush and our lane integrity, and also just keeping our eyes up so that we can see where LaNorris Sellers is at.”
Alabama’s defense has recorded 10 total sacks through the first three games of the 2026 season. The Tide’s pass rush has been nothing short of elite to begin the year, and the unit as a whole will face an excellent test against Sellers and the rest of South Carolina’s veteran offensive unit on Saturday.
