Grubb says he felt bad becoming a distraction for Alabama last week

Alabama football’s offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb feels he became a distraction last week when he went after Tide fans.

Grubb started last week addressing boos from Alabama fans during the Florida State game.

“I told the guys, “I said, shoot, guys, if you’d have quit as fast as some of your fans, shit, we wouldn’t have won that game,”” Grubb said. “So I was proud of them. For a bunch of 19-year-olds to go out there and just 21-6 and not flinch, I was fired up.”

The Alabama offensive coordinator started this week addressing his comments towards Tide fans.

“I was kind of tongue-in-cheek when I was talking about that stuff and certainly defensive of my players, but really we were not worried about it,” Grubb said. “It went a lot further. We got a lot more life on the Boo Birds than I thought it would. So I just apologize. We love our fans. Our guys love our fans and just want to make sure we move on from that and appreciate y’all.”

Alabama’s offense is coming off its most impressive outing this season, and the Tide is looking to carry this momentum into this week.
