Former Alabama QB feels Tide’s key to beating Mississippi State is not stopping Kamario Taylor

AJ McCarron feels a major key to Alabama football beating Mississippi State is not the Bulldogs stopping Kamario Taylor.

Taylor has garnered a lot of attention ahead of the highly anticipated matchup. The quarterback is considered to be a Heisman favorite, and the Crimson Tide’s defensive coordinator Kane Wommack feels the signal caller is one of the best quarterbacks Kalen DeBoer’s Alabama staff has faced.

While McCarron does respect Taylor, the National Champion also feels a major key to the Tide beating the Bulldogs is stopping who lines up beside Taylor in the backfield.

“The matchup for me this week has to go back to the defense and our defensive front because Mississippi State’s always been able to run the football,” McCarron said on “The Dynasty” podcast. “They’ve always been tough up front. They’ve always been a ground and pound like we talked about. It’s a tough game. Big dudes up front. They’re able to throw the ball now. This offense is going to be tough. If we’re not on our keys, and that’s the concerning part to me, is if we lean so much on stopping the pass because of Kamario Taylor, Now do we give up a whole bunch of rushing yards off of it? I think this game comes down to our defensive front and being able to stop the run and kind of make them one-dimensional as much as possible.”

Alabama and the Bulldogs will get after it Saturday in Davis-Wade Stadium. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m.
