SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey gets asked about officiating in Alabama vs. Georgia game

SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey speaks at 2021 media days

The SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey was asked about how the conference decides to make statements about officiating after the Alabama vs. Georgia game stirred up a lot of conversation.

“We have indicated previously that we don’t comment on judgment calls,” Sankey said. “We have a high level of expectation of performance for everyone involved… Our officials dedicate a great deal of time to preparation, and in those bang, bang moments, there are disagreements.”

A possible missed pass interference call in the game had a large portion of the sports world talking throughout the weekend.

KJ Bolden, who was the Georgia player in coverage on the play in question, said he would have wanted the referees to call defensive pass interference if the Bulldogs were on offense.

Georgia went on to defeat Alabama 20-17.
