Alabama offensive line coach calls performance vs. Tennessee ’embarrassing’

Alabama football’s offensive line is looking to shake off an underwhelming performance against Tennessee.

Keelon Russell was sacked five times in the Crimson Tide’s Saturday loss to the Vols. Georgia got to Russell four times a week before.

The Alabama offensive line is taking accountability for its performance against the Vols, according to Alabama’s starting right guard Michael Carroll. Tide’s offensive line coach Adrian Klemm is not happy after the performance, and he sent a clear message to Alabama’s offensive front.

“I mean, the message was that was an embarrassing performance, and we need to come together as a group and never let that happen again,” Carroll said.

Alabama’s offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb took blame for the way the Tide’s offense executed as a whole against Tennessee last weekend.

“More questions than answers right now, and I think that it starts with me,” Grubb said. “I thought I had a good game plan. This isn’t a point-the-fingers-at-the-kids, kind of day. We’re pissed off. I thought I had them ready to play, and I didn’t. The bottom line is we got outplayed. They played their butts off. I think they’re a good team. We certainly didn’t show anywhere close to the caliber of team that that I know that we are. It’s a long season. We still got everything in front of us. I think the guys know that. But really just super disappointing. A lot of hours and time put into 10 points, and it’s embarrassing. And if I was a fan or a supporter, I’d be pissed off too. I know our guys are going to come back ready to work. I just wouldn’t count these guys out.”

Alabama’s offense will get a shot at bouncing back against Texas A&M on Saturday.
