One of Alabama football’s most productive offensive coordinators ever Mike Locksley has no plans to be a head coach again, according to ESPN.

Locksley revealed he is interested in being a coordinator in the NFL or college at a program he can ‘win’ at.

“But I’m done with the heavy laboring of building,” Locksley told Heather Dinich. “and taking a job that’s going to wear me out. I can’t do it anymore.”

The former Maryland head coach was fired by the Terrapins earlier this week. Locksley served as the Alabama Crimson Tide’s offensive coordinator in 2018 before taking the head coaching job at Maryland. He won the Broyles Award, which is given annually to the best assistant coach in college football, in his one season at the Tide’s OC.

Alabama’s offense averaged 47.9 points a game with Locksley leading it. The unit set school season records in points scored, total offense, offensive touchdowns and passing yards. Alabama hired Locksley in 2016 as an offensive analyst. He was promoted to wide receiver coach in 2017.
