Former Alabama football running back, Trent Richardson feels the Crimson Tide is a top-five team in the country, but they have not done a good job proving it.

The Tide is currently ranked No. 5 in the College Football Playoff rankings. The ranking has a lot of people talking, with Alabama having two losses this season.

Richardson dove into what he thought the College Football Playoff Committee was thinking when it put Alabama at No. 5 on “The Dynasty” podcast.

“Everybody’s up in a roar with it,” Richardson said. “They’re mad about the decision. They’re mad about this and mad about that. Do I think Alabama’s a top 5 team? Yeah, they are. Do I think they’re playing like it right now? They’re not. It’s been some ups and downs. I think what the college football committee is looking at right now, I think they looking at a decision that got kind of screwed at the end with the Georgia game with the referee and all this other stuff. And I think they feel like it was a mistake, that call didn’t get called. Then they come the next week. I think both teams was beat up when it comes to Georgia, when they come to their loss, or hard getting up for certain teams. Um, I say this all the time, and it’s not talking down about Tennessee, but when we played, it was hard getting up for that game at points when you talking about you got to play LSU the next week. You’ve been looking forward to other weeks. You try to stay in a straight line with it and keep your eye on the test. But I’m not saying Tennessee is a bad team. Hell, they took it to us. I’m talking about Bama. But they got their tail whooped against who? Was it South Carolina? And we blew South Carolina out. The committee gonna be the committee, but y’all gotta realize too, it’s early on in the season. So y’all gotta, you know, stay the course with this. Don’t get rattled. Don’t get too up in your feelings about this stuff here. Everybody’s up in their feelings. Bama, y’all keep playing.”

Alabama will return to action Saturday against LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
