Trio of teams standing out to Pinson Valley DB Tevis Metcalf

Tevis Metcalf is fresh off of an unofficial visit to Auburn with a group of schools standing out to him.

Metcalf attends Pinson Valley High School in Alabama. He holds more than 10 D1 offers with a trio of programs showing him a lot of love at the moment.

“I have to say Arkansas, Auburn and Colorado,” Metcalf told Touchdown Alabama. “Those are the top three really recruiting me the hardest.”

The Tigers hosted the junior last weekend for its big junior day. He had an opportunity to catch up with multiple members of Auburn’s staff.

“It was a real good visit,” Metcalf said. “It was good actually getting to tour everything they have. It was good seeing the new staff and defensive coordinator. Getting to actually meet coach Freeze, that was big.”

Auburn offered Metcalf in November and has remained in heavy contact with him.

“It is a pretty good relationship with the assistant coaches there,” Metcalf told Touchdown Alabama. “Everybody always reaching out to me and talking to me, seeing how I am doing. Coach (Zac) Ethridge seems like he likes me a lot. He came to watch me in spring before I really got popping. He showed interest, and he came to offer me.”

Arkansas offered Metcalf more than a year ago. His older brother and 2023 recruit, TJ Metcalf signed with the Razorbacks, and Arkansas has made Tevis feel welcome.

“My brother is there, and it will be nice playing with him,” said Metcalf. “They treat me like I am family too. They really show they want me there.”

Deion Sanders and his staff have been recruiting both Tevis and TJ dating back to when they were at Jackson State. The relationship has transition over to Colorado.

“Coach Hart had been recruiting me and my brother for a while,” Metcalf said. “He called me and reassured me I have a spot over there with whoever goes there. I can go over there and do what I got to do. He wants me to take an official visit. When officials open up, I plan to set a date.”

At 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds, Metcalf was a shutdown corner during the 2022 football season. His ability to turn and run with receivers while consistently getting his head around to play the football was on full display.
