Alabama football’s defensive coordinator, Kane Wommack is disappointed in the Crimson Tide’s defense for several reasons following their win over USF.
The Tide defeated the Bulls 42-16. Alabama’s defense only gave up one touchdown and held USF to three field goals. However, they did not force any turnovers.
Wommack feels extremely disappointed in Alabama’s lack of success in the turnover department.
“Extremely disappointed in the lack of takeaways that we were not able to create,” Wommack said on Monday. “Their team did. They created three of them. We were minus three in the turnover margin, which is absolutely unacceptable by our defense. It has to be something that we focus on day in and day out. It’s what we preach. It’s who we are. It’s what we believe in, and it did not show up in this game. So, something that we’ve gotta continue to push and pressure to focus on getting that done on game day.”
Wommack was also disappointed in the touchdown Alabama gave up to USF.
“Disappointed in the one touchdown that we gave up,” said Wommack. “I thought we should have been better there and given ourselves a chance to get another stop on 3rd down. So we have to continue to improve. It’s not okay to give up touchdowns in the red zone, um, even though we were able to win three out of the four.”
Alabama’s defense will look to play better this week against Wisconsin.
