Kalen DeBoer has his sights on one thing as Alabama’s head football coach.

He wants to stick a knife in the heart of Tiger Stadium and make it bleed with defeat.

DeBoer will lead the Crimson Tide into a hostile atmosphere on Saturday known as “Death Valley.”

Alabama has every postseason aspiration in front of it, including the College Football Playoff.

The Tide debuted at No. 11 in Tuesday’s first installment of ESPN’s CFP rankings for the 12-team playoff.

Alabama LB says Crimson Tide’s defense is taking ‘starving’ approach to LSU game

DeBoer spoke to the media in Wednesday’s SEC Coaches Teleconference.

He knew the Tide would be in the rankings, but that is not his main focus.

“I did not realize even where we were ranked until just now,” DeBoer said. “I knew it would be up there somewhere. Each week is what it is about for us. If we do what we need to do, it will work itself out. And that’s the approach we have. That’s the approach we had after Tennessee as well. Just focus on what we call next-play mindset, next-game mindset. And that’s the only thing that matters.”

DeBoer has this team locked in on the right message. The CFP is important, but right now LSU stands in the way of it remaining in the conversation to clinch a spot in the field.

A loss to the Tigers would kick the Tide’s postseason dream out the door.
