Prior to the start of the season, there were several question marks surrounding the Alabama football program. One of the question marks was how the Crimson Tide would replace the all-time scoring leader Will Reichard. The expectation was that Lou Groza Award winner and Miami-Ohio transfer Graham Nicholson would step in, replace Reichard, and the drop off be marginal.
Thus far, Nicholson has seen very few opportunities to showcase his potential. The Ohio native is 4/6 on field goal attempts this season and is 55/55 on extra points. His longest made field goal came against Missouri. It was a 47-yard field goal.
Alabama has seemingly either scored a touchdown or punted more times than not. Therefore, Nicholson has been unable to truly showcase his potential in Tuscaloosa. I am sure that it has been a surprise to many, but Nicholson could see more opportunities down the stretch as Alabama prepares for a run at the College Football Playoff.
